Laser Lipolysis
Laser Lipolysis is permanent destruction of fat without the downtime and bruising associated with traditional liposuction. While traditional liposuction uses sharp suction to remove fat, it causes significant amount of bruising because fat is very vascular and these tiny blood vessels are cut as the fat is removed and left to bleed. Restrictive garments such as "girdles" are necessary with traditional liposuction to limit the amount of bleeding, and these must be worn for some period of time following the procedure itself. Also, fat embolism is a real concern when newly opened blood vessels are in the proximity of loose fat. Laser Lipolysis is a cutting edge technology for body contouring whereby the fat is actually "melted" by the heat of a laser at 1064 nanometers.
Simultaneously the tiny blood vessels are sealed to prevent bruising and bleeding. In most instances patients can return to normal activities within 48 hours, and any melted fat is removed in a non-traumatic fashion. Because heat is used and inflammation helps to create collagen, the skin is tightened significantly with Laser Lipolysis as opposed to traditional liposuction. Dr. Julie Waddell can evaluate your body contouring goals and determine whether or not this new technology would best fit your needs. Call today to schedule a complementary consultation.
